About the position

As the Clinical Documentation Manager , you will play a key role in driving documentation excellence across clinical programs. This position focuses on daily clinical documentation review, coaching, and training to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and payer standards. You will collaborate closely with clinical teams, site leadership, and cross-functional partners to support high-quality patient care and alignment with organizational goals. This hybrid role allows you to combine remote work with meaningful collaboration alongside clinical teams and leadership. You’ll have the opportunity to influence documentation practices, support clinician development through training and coaching, and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts that directly impact patient care and program success.

Responsibilities
• Review all clinical records daily to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and documentation quality
• Ensure adherence to clinical documentation standards, payer requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations
• Address documentation deficiencies through same-day coaching, training, or direct annotation when needed
• Provide ongoing teaching and training to support clinical documentation excellence
• Attend clinical team meetings and other assigned meetings
• Complete required training courses in a timely manner
• Ensure Electronic Health Record (EHR) forms meet applicable documentation and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with the Information Technology (IT) team on EHR form development and enhancements
• Support accreditation processes, scheduling, and corrective action initiatives for the DR&A division
• Oversee outcomes, data integrity, and performance processes across the DR&A division while maintaining confidentiality
• Develop training materials and calendars aligned with performance data and quality outcomes
• Develop, implement, and maintain quality improvement standards, policies, and procedures
• Serve as a resource to clinical teammates to resolve documentation and quality-related issues
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Addiction Counseling, or a related field
• Active, independent clinical licensure associated with the earned degree
• Virginia licensure required: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Nice-to-haves
• Experience treating individuals with substance use disorders
• Strong experience with clinical documentation and treatment records following payer guidelines
• Clinical chart audit experience
• Experience developing and facilitating training for clinical staff
